Northern Michigan Wine: Northern Michigan wine and Northern Michigan wineries have once again achieved national attention, and this time it's from FoodandWine.com, the website for Food & Wine magazine! Out of all the wineries in all fifty states, writer Ray Isle chose wineres from just five states that are worth visiting, and Northern Michigan wineries L. Mawby, Black Star Farms and Chateau Grand Traverse made the list.
Here's what Isle had to say about Northern Michigan wine in the article, "Wines from the Rest of the U.S.:"
"Michigan: Chateau Grand Traverse—The area around Traverse City has an abundance of wineries. One of the best and most unusual among them is L. Mawby, on the Leelanau Peninsula—unusual because it produces only sparkling wine, and quite good sparkling wine at that. If you’re making an overnight trip of it, stay nearby at the Inn at Black Star Farms, which in addition to wine produces a number of very good eau-de-vies (fruit brandies)."
