Northern Michigan Fall Color Guided Walks with Leelanau Conservancy

Northern Michiagn Events: The Leelanu Conservancy is leading two Northern Michigan fall color guided walks at the Houdek Dunes near Leland and at the Teichner Preserve, October 27th and 28th, 2012.

Houdek Dunes Guided Walk

Saturday, October 27th, 10:00 am

Observe the changing succession of different plant communities as they slowly re-colonize Houdek Dunes. Discover the changing diversity of wildlife associated with these communities while learning about survival in hot, arid, windy (and soon to be cold…maybe) dune environments.  Join Docents Ann McInnis, Candy Gardner, Peter Wolcott, Janet Ward on the newly created trails available for a true Northern Michigan experience.

Teichner Preserve on Lime Lake Guided Walk

Sunday, October 28th, 10:00 am

The tamaracks should be showing their full gold colors as you stroll down the boardwalk through the wetlands to Lime Lake. Along the way, you’ll see the wetlands preparing for winter, and other fall colors will abound in the upland hardwood forest. Docents Ann Mason and Judy Hoeffler will be your guides through the lovely Teichner Preserve.

To sign up click here or call 231-256-9665. Please note–no dogs on docent-led hikes, which usually last about 2 hours.
