Northern Michigan Music: Chamber, Symphony & Folk Up North

Northern Michigan Music: Expect another top notch season from Chamber Music North; the Traverse Symphony Orchestra brings dynamic talent to the stage; check out this potent folk music lineup at Cadillac's Gopherwood.

Chamber Music North

Chamber Music North is dedicated to presenting classical chamber music—the only group of its kind in the region. Performance and educational offerings continue to expand, including the Arcturos Concerts held at Leelanau County’s Black Star Farms. The fall schedule is yet to be determined, but expect another impressive lineup of performances. Chamber Music North also has found success with its Sundays at Three Series at the Dennos Museum (January–May) and Village Concert series held throughout the summer in Leland, Glen Arbor and Benzonia. Connecting aspiring classical musicians with notable performers is another important component of CMN. chambermusicnorth.com.

Traverse Symphony Orchestra

Traverse Symphony Orchestra continues its artistic force with a season full of showstoppers: two piano concerti by the first winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition; the return of the NMC Chorale; a Kevin Rhodes piano performance; and four programs featuring guest soloists, including the youngest winner of the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. Each season, the 60-year-old orchestra presents several classical and pops symphonic programs, featuring renowned guest artists from the national and international stage. Performance dates include: 2 to Celebrate!
