Northern Michigan Events: Along with student performances throughout the year in theater, dance, music, creative writing and motion picture arts, Interlochen Center for the Arts is serving up another season of world-class entertainment. Headlining the season is one of America’s most acclaimed comedians, Bill Cosby, who performs September 15 in Kresge Auditorium. The fall lineup also includes: Interlochen Arts Academy “Collage,” a rapid-fire sampler of student performances—a tour de force showcasing the talents of students from around the world (October 4–5); Information, Space and Time: The Arts, Creativity & Learning in the 21st Century, a symposium to explore the changing world of arts featuring keynote presenters and performers such as Tony Kushner, Liz Lerman, Billy Childs, Andrea Gibson and Doug Stanton (October 10–13); SFJAZZ Collective: The Music of Chick Corea, performing new arrangements along with original compositions by each of the members (October 18); United States Air Force Band of Flight Concert Band, with a varied repertoire ranging from classical symphonic compositions and military marches to Broadway show tunes and popular contemporary music (November 6); Fred Garbo’s Inflatable Theater Co., a show the Washington Post called “A stunning mixture of science and art.” (November 10); Cherish The Ladies: A Celtic Christmas, an all-female band made up of Irish-born and first-generation Irish-American performers (December 4); and “Coppélia” Interlochen Arts Academy Dance Co. and Orchestra, an enchanting comedy with Old-World charm (December 13, 14 & 15) 231.276.7800, interlochen.org.
