Northern Michigan Events: The Cherry Blossom Ramblers Perform 7/13/12

Northern Michigan Events: Cheat the curse of bad luck Friday the 13th by attending the performance of the Cherry Blossom Ramblers at the Michigan Legacy Art Park hosted by the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club. This performance is third in the "Summer Sounds Concert Series" which continues every Friday through the month of July. Tickets to see Cherry Blossom Ramblers are $10 per adult, $8 per Art Park member and are free for kids under 18 years old. All proceeds benefit Michigan Legacy Art Park. The concert takes place at the Art Park’s amphitheatre, located on the grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa in Thompsonville, Mich.

Husband and wife team, Lawrence "Doc" Probes and Donna Wilson Probes, started the Cherry Blossom Ramblers in 2007 as a family band. They perform music spanning a number of popular genres: traditional folk, singer-songwriter, country, old time, bluegrass, Celtic and Irish traditional, international, gospel and blues. Strong and rich vocal harmonies are a hallmark of their signature sound. The instruments used in their performances include guitar, mandolin, ukelele, bouzouki, keyboard, bass, jembe and other percussion, concertina, whistle and even kazoo.

Concert tickets can be purchased in advance at michlegacyartpark.org/events/ or at the Art Park on the night of the concert. Rides to the amphitheatre will begin at 6:15 p.m. for those unable to walk the trail.

New this year are art activities, led by Live for Art Gallery of Beulah, Michigan, which will be provided for kids during the concert.

Guests are welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs or blankets. Art Park folding chairs will be available to purchase or rent at the concert. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase, or pre-order a gourmet picnic for two from Crystal Mountain by calling 231.378.2000 ext. 7000. If raining, the concert will be held indoors at Crystal Mountain.
