Northern Michigan Restaurants: Eat Local Challenge in Traverse City

Northern Michigan Restaurants: Local restaurants are giving a thumbs up for the mitten state's "Eat Local to Support Local" campaign. The third annual Eat Local Challenge was started by locally-based Michigan restaurant owner, Jeff Lobdell. The name is the idea behind it—support local restaurants.

Participating in this challenge is simple. Pick up a "Eat Local to Support Local" passport book from any of the restaurants participating (see list below) and begin to gather stamps every time you eat at one of those restaurants. What's in it for you? You can earn restaurant gift certificates and the opportunity to be placed in drawings for gas cards and a 42'' flat-panel plasma HDTV. The added bonus is that it also allows you to support and appreciate local Northern Michigan restaurants!

Passports are available at the following Northern Michigan restaurants now through September 14.

Omelette Shoppe
Boone's Prime Time Pub
Flap Jack Shack
Bear Lake Tavern
