Northern Michigan Events: Head to the Village at Grand Traverse Commons in Traverse City this Saturday, February 11, for the 3rd annual Traverse City Winter Microbrew and Music Festival, produced by Porterhouse Productions.
Fuel the soul with tastings from over forty breweries, wineries, cideries and meaderies, sample delicious cuisine from area restaurants, or do a combination of both with beer and food pairings. After warming you belly, get moving to the beat of music, including a polka band. Then move on to the now-infamous silent disco tent, watch the fire dancers or warm up at a bonfire. Now that's a way to spend a Northern Michigan winter evening!
Tickets to the event are $30 ($35 at the door, if any remain), and include five pours, a tasting cup, all entertainment and use of courtesy shuttles which will run every 15 minutes between Traverse City's downtown parking deck and the Village. Your ticket also includes entrance in to the Hop N’ Brew Shack – if you can get in before the crowds! The Shack provides attendees an opportunity to meet brewers face-to-face and sample limited-edition and select lines of brews and ales. Big enough to hold groups of 10-12 at a time, the Shack features a different brewery every half hour. Tastings are open to all festival-goers on a first-come, first-served basis.
While all of the festivities will take place under heated tents, the Winter Microbrew and Music Festival is held outside at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons in Traverse City, so attendees are encouraged to dress warmly. Porterhouse Productions also wants event-goers to enjoy the festival responsibly, and advises that people take use of the courtesy shuttles, designate drivers and carpools, or walk and bike ride to the Village. You must be 21+ with a valid picture ID to gain entrance into the festival grounds.
The Traverse City Winter Microbrew and Music Festival is not only a fun way to spend your Saturday, it's also a great way to support Northern Michigan! The event will feature predominantly Northern Michigan crafters and supports local businesses. Proceeds will benefit Bay Area Recycling for Charities, a Traverse City, Michigan-based non-profit company providing comprehensive recycling services to residents and businesses in the Grand Traverse Bay area.
