An experience such as this is the epitome of a summer’s evening. As the river splashes, and birds chirp in the trees, Riverside Shakespeare stages tragedies and comedies of the great William Shakespeare.
This weekend, on Friday July 22 at 7 p.m., Riverside Shakespeare of Traverse City performs Shakespeare’s Henry V at Hannah Park, located along the river in the Old Town district of Traverse City. Each summer, Riverside Shakespeare selects a play to perform over a period of several weekends for anyone who wants to watch.
Last weekend, Henry V took place before a lively crowd in Waterwheel Park of Suttons Bay before returning this weekend to Traverse City. Free to the public, all Riverside Shakespeare productions are performed by passionate volunteer actors, rehearsing all summer long.
A truly poetic experience, the local Shakespearean troupe merrily blends the timeless soliloquies of this great playwright, with past productions including A Winter’s Tale, A Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night, and As You Like It to name a few. Aren’t familiar with Henry V? Find out what it’s about.
Picnic on the grass by the river before the play and bring blanked or lawn chair for the show on what is sure to be a wonderful summer night.
