Kenny Olson, the former guitarist for Kid Rock, will bring his searing licks to the Kenny Olson State at Traverse City’s Union Street Station on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
This guy is versatile enough to have played with Uncle Kracker, Chaka Khan and Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. He may be of a later generation of rockers, but his pedigree is undeniable. Just to have Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix’s kin uttering his name, must mean he’s carving out a special place among the rock guitar elite.
Among Kenny’s guests on stage will be pianist Jimmy Olson, Kenny’s cousin and son of well-known Traverse City environmental lawyer James Olson.
Olson lived in Traverse City in high school and got his start on the Union Street stage.
“Whenever I come to town, I always play or do jam session with friends on the stage,” Kenny said. “It’s been a fun stomping ground for great jams, with great people.”
The show begins at 9:30 and tickets are $10 at the door.
