Enjoy this fascinating, step-by-step process as Kevin Gauthier, owner Korner Gem in Traverse City with his wife Chenina, creates a beautiful sailboat pendant with Blue stone inlays.

A Traverse City native, Kevin was only 14 when he opened his first local gem shop and he hasn’t stopped creating jewelry from local gem stones since. Kevin’s love of rock, gems and minerals led him to a career as a full service fine jeweler, displaying his unique ability to transform rocks into beautifully polished gemstones.  In addition to running a full-service jewelry store, Kevin is a lifetime member of the Grand Traverse Rock & Mineral Club and often teaches lapidary classes, casting classes as well as speaking to local schools about his experience of mining Amethyst, Quartz and Michigan’s Green Stone.

Korner Gem also offers jewelry featuring beadwork designed by Chenina. The bead jewelry pairs pearls, crystals and more with local Michigan stone beads made by Kevin.
