Northern Michigan’s Best Eats 2009: And the winner is…!

In the March issue of Traverse, Northern Michigan’s Magazine, we presented 46 of the food headliners making this year so delicious, and asked Northern Michigan to vote for their favorite. After a close battle right to the finish with the buffalo meatloaf at Old State Roadhouse in Boyne City, the Smoking Greens sandwich at Serenity Tea Bar and Café claims the bragging rights of 2009’s Best Eat!

Stop in this week at Serenity Tea Bar and Café to give a shout-out to Kerry, Jack and Jill and the rest of the Serenity crew. And try that melty smoked cheddar sandwich with avocado, sunflower seeds, spinach, paper-thin red onion and matcha green tea–infused mayonnaise with a cool, creamy Matcha Mango Latte—it’ll be like a mini-spring break right here in town!

Other big scorers: the Sour Cherry Patches from Glen Arbor’s Cherry Republic, The Gobbler sandwich at Mary’s Kitchen Port in Traverse City and the Pear-adise Salad from Centre Street Café, also in T.C.

    HEEEEY! Okay, I admit the Smoking Greens sandwich is fabulously yummy but even so, I am shocked by these results when we have also insanely talented chefs at places like Siren Hall, Stella, etc. A sandwich cannot compare to the transcendence of the Black Cod special I had the last time I was at Siren Hall.
