Friske’s annual cherry event is always a bright spot in my year: the table is dressed in red-and-white gingham, the parade of creative cherry dishes from Up North home cooks is delicious, the prizes are dreamy. (Last year’s winners took home $100, a night’s stay at Black Star Farms or the Jordan Inn, and a Friske Orchards cherry goodie bag!)

Six finalists from each category will receive valuable prizes, with bonus awards going to 1st through 3rd places. Judging will take place live at Friske Farm Market the store February 28th. I’ll be there representing Traverse, Northern Michigan’s Magazine as guest judge with Ron Jolly from WTCM radio, Pete Peterson from Tapawingo and Babette Stenuis from the Petoskey News Review.
